Arts Emergency mentors volunteer to support under-resourced, young people living in Greater Manchester, London and Merseyside, who are interested in exploring careers in the creative and cultural industries.
The Dementia Services supports people to live independently and safely at home for as long as possible, stay socially engaged and carry on doing what they love. The service supports Camden residents over the age of 55 in the early or moderate stages of dementia.
We offer clients from the Dementia Services (befriending and wellbeing) a short performance or creative activity delivered by a volunteer visual artist, musician, dancer, actor, performer, and other creative artforms. You may choose to share a creative hobby or an art form you practice professionally.
Commonwealth Education Trust are looking for a volunteer who can create videos for our courses that can be uploaded to our WordPress site.
This is intended as a fun development opportunity for someone already skilled with social media and wanting to build a career in digital marketing. Delia Derbyshire are looking for a collaborative, creative and reliable volunteer to help them maintain their online communities and improve reach, engagement and impact.
Commitment: minimum 3 hours per month, maximum is up to you.
You will ideally be based in North West England, near Manchester though most work will be remote, so you can live anywhere in the UK.
– By volunteering for 8 hours on one day of the festival, you will get free entry to both days of Parklife 2026 with plenty of time to enjoy acts on the day you volunteer.
– This is a great way to meet new people and get experience in the event industry.
– All applicants need to be 18+ and have valid ID
– You will be required to put down a £200 deposit – this will be returned after you have completed your shift the week after the festival.

HOME Young Film Collective is a 6 month programme for 18-25 year olds who want to take part in film workshops covering everything from practical filmmaking skills, programming, distribution and will culminate in the making of a number of short films that will be screened in HOME’s cinema. The 6 month programme will begin in February 2026 and applications are open now.
Working with outstanding professional artists, being in YEP you’ll develop your creativity, learn new skills, gain qualifications and make new friends in our welcoming and supportive groups and sessions.
In partnership with Jigsaw Homes, we’re bringing back our Skills Exchange programme where we’ll be running 2x week long training courses for young people aged 16-18 (or 18-25 with an EHCP) who live in Tameside and aren’t in education, training or full time employment. Commercials are full of people like you and TV/film producers want REAL PEOPLE, not posh drama school graduates. However, unless you’ve been to stage school or had some kind of formal training, it’s hard to be yourself on camera. That’s where Manchester Television Workshops comes in.
MTW take people from all walks of life and teaches them acting skills and industry secrets that gives them everything they need to get work in the industry. They are all about diversity, so classes are open to everyone.
MTW only take people into workshops who they feel have potential, and offer an introductory class completely FREE OF CHARGE – it gives you the chance to show what you can do and to see if you like what they do!

Early Career Promoter Fund recognises the vital role independent promoters play in supporting the talent pipeline across England, and offers grant funding and capacity building support, with the aim of bolstering the local, regional and national ecosystems.
Grants of up to £3,500 will be available to support a range of activity, including:
The fund aims to help emerging promoters to do what they do best – book and promote shows to develop scenes, support artists and DJs and to reach and engage audiences locally, regionally, and nationally, and build sustainable careers in the grassroots music sector. Those receiving support will be able to step up to book and promote talent at a scale beyond their current level, and build their capacity, skills and networks.
Managed by PRS Foundation and supported by Arts Council England and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the Early Career Promoter Fund also helps to address under representation, ensuring support reaches a diverse range of promoters, and proactively encourages grantees to support a diverse range of artists and music genres nationwide.

The groups we list here are mostly for creative writing rather than non-fiction. They cover all genres and types of creative writing: short stories, novels, novellas, screenplays, theatre and poetry. Most of them are free or have a nominal charge.

The Grey Area is a monthly event for trans and queer writers and book lovers. Events will take place in person, in the Office Arté Util space at the Whitworth.
This is a new trans and queer writing group and book club in Manchester. The Grey Area is based in the Whitworth and we run from 6pm to 8.30pm.The idea is for writers and book lovers to get the chance to meet, share work and find like-minded people.
The Grey Area events are held on the first Thursday of the Month. These events are very collaborative and Grey will ask you what your expectations are of the session, encourage feedback and keep the group welcoming to newcomers who may join in later months.
