YOUNG PEOPLES MANAGER ROLE – ARC

Arc is one of the UK’s leading arts & mental health charities, with a 25 year track record of producing transformational arts projects supporting thousands of people in Stockport and across GM.

The YPA Project Manager Role:

  • To manage Arc’s Young People programme of music and art projects both in
    Arc’s centre in Stockport and outreach at partner venues across G M
  • To lead the Young People’s Arc Youth Music funded MusicSpace project – consisting of term time music for wellbeing activities.
  • To deliver music workshops for young people at Arc and in partner venues
    across GM.
  • To develop a responsive, dynamic and inclusive programme of music delivery
    which supports young people’s mental health as a priority
  • To ensure youth voice is at the heart of programme development
  • To be the lead for the project overall, responsible for and adhering to all Youth
    Music and other funder grant conditions and reporting schedules.
  • To set up and manage young people visual art projects in response to partnership and commission requests.

Our innovative approach draws on clinical therapeutic techniques and music industry practice using creative collaboration and culturally relevant music activities and genres. Founded in 2003 by patients at Highgate Mental Health Centre in North London in response to a lack of music on the wards, we’ve grown from a weekly music workshop in the hospital OT department into a charity that provides music programmes across London and regionally for young people and adults struggling with mental health challenges. Music mentoring programmes in hospitals and community Volunteering, peer mentoring & work experience opportunities Record label for musicians with lived experience of mental health Concerts & Open Mic’s in healthcare and community setting Our services are co-produced with participants and delivered by specially trained professional musicians, producers, artists, and industry experts in partnership with local health, care, cultural and creative organisations. We are passionate about celebrating place and people – Quays Culture was set up in 2012 to bring culture to a burgeoning community in Salford Quays. Since then, we have enriched and enlivened the Quays, working with local, national and international artists; we have welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to experience our work and the places in which it exists.

As Quays Culture Producer you will lead on the logistical and operational elements of the Quays Culture programme, ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of events for visitors, creative partners and stakeholders. The role supports the Head of Programme in curatorial planning, allowing scope to shape how audiences experience our events.

You will be a creative problem solver with a can-do attitude, with experience of project managing large-scale, ambitious public-realm events. You will be confident building and maintaining significant partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners. You will have knowledge and understanding of event budgets, resource planning, health and safety documentation, insurance cover, licensing, and legislation, and you will be able to manage a team. You will have a genuine commitment to making events more sustainable.

The post will be based at The Lowry, but the role currently allows some flexible working from home. You may also be required to work weekends and evenings where required. Northern Soul presents SPARK, a ten-month leadership development
programme for 15 participants aged 18-25 living in the North of England
(North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber), funded by the Virgin Money Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund.

SPARK is aimed at inspiring and empowering young Northerners to be the change they want to see in the world. The programme is designed to support participants to unlock their potential and develop the confidence, leadership and entrepreneurial skills needed to create positive change and mobilise their communities.

SPARK will bring together a diverse cohort of individuals from across the North who share the values, determination and vision to build a more compassionate, connected, fair and hopeful UK. Participants will receive masterclasses from industry experts, social innovators and young changemakers to gain insight into how to create sustainable change in their own lives and their wider community.

The programme will support participants to develop a sense of agency as they work towards exploring their own ideas they can develop into real world projects that motivate, inspire and empower them. Each participant
will receive 1-2-1 coaching from our partners at Results CIC and Rivers Coaching Ltd to support their personal development. Participants will
also receive a £800 honorarium for their time, commitment and engagement with the programme.

SPARK will culminate in a showcase Celebration Event where participants can reflect on their development throughout the programme, new knowledge, skills and experience gained and share their plans for
next steps going forward.
