You Are Here: Emerging Writer Opportunity – Levenshulme Old Library


Levenshulme Old Library is recruiting two emerging writers for You Are Here, a new digital project coming in the spring.

These are paid mentoring and training opportunities aimed at early-stage writers aged 18+ who are interested in developing their short fiction.

Through You Are Here, five writers will be commissioned each to create an original story set in a different park in Levenshulme.

The successful applicant will receive a fee of £350 for an original work of short fiction which we will professionally record and release as a podcast. This opportunity is supported by The Space.

Receptionist – Royal Northern College of Music

This role is part-time, on a fixed term, 12-month contract. The successful candidate would be expected to work Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 1.00pm to 6.30pm, as well as Wednesdays 8am to 6pm. The successful candidate will also have the ability to be flexible within these hours to cover annual leave and sickness within the team.

Policy Officer – LGBT Foundation

LGBT Foundation are looking for a part-time Policy Officer. The Policy Officer will be responsible for the operational, day-to-day oversight and facilitation of the Greater Manchester LGBTQ+ Equality Panel, as well as ad hoc policy work to support the wider policy and research team. The successful candidate will be responsible for;  

  • Facilitation of monthly panel meetings  
  • Maintenance of the Panel Workplan, tracking progress against workgroup activity, the LGBT Action Plan and the Greater Manchester Strategy.   
  • Oversight of the three Panel Workgroups, including the delivery of Workgroup projects as outlined in the Panel’s Workplan.   
  • Delivery of the fortnightly Panel email newsletter  
  • The wellbeing support of Panel members during regular meetings   
  • Representation of the Panel at internal and external events (including in-person)  
  • Liaising with Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) on policy matters involving the panel.   
  • Recruitment of new Panel members  
  • Re-introduction of the Panel Advisory Group  
  • Ad hoc support of the Community Action Network  
  • Ad-hoc support for other areas of policy work, e.g public consultations

IT Technician – Royal Northern College of Music

As an instrumental part of the team, the IT Technician will work with the Client Services Manager and independently to manage the RNCM end-user estate of laptops, desktops, tablets, mobile phones, and more, to ensure that users have a consistent, modern, reliable, and secure environment in which to work.
