Emerging Artists Commissions – Peshkar

Peshkar are seeking artists across disciplines under the age of 30 who have an interest in working in a participatory way and an interest in digital practice, although experience in these areas is not essential, this is an opportunity for you to explore, develop, learn and accelerate.

There are no limits to artform, they are interested in anyone from theatre, dance, music, visual arts, digital arts and beyond. All they ask is that you have some big ideas and are looking to develop your practice in participatory and digital environments.

Soundcamp Application Process

Overview

Applications are now open for Soundcamp 26, where 8 emerging artists will be selected to embark on a 6-month journey to grow their musical skills, networks, industry knowledge and career. 

Led by Werkha, with mentors Jack (Cooper T) & LayFullStop 

You will gain: 

  • Insider insight into the music industry 
  • Create your own unique music and learn new skills
  • Discover and develop your artist identity 
  • Perform on a  2-day tour in Manchester and London
  • Free course with food and travel provided

We’re looking for young artists who:

  • Have some experience creating and/or performing music and are serious about pursuing a career in the industry.
  • Can provide an artist profile (basic presence online, demo recordings, performances, collabs, etc).
  • Can commit to all programme dates (to be shared in advance).

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be aged 16–25 
  • Live in the North
  • Commit to Tuesday evening sessions (in person) between Sept 2026 and March 2027
  • Be able to commit to 3 full days – 10am – 4pm on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th Sept
  • Be able to commit to 3 full days – 10am – 4pm in Jan 2027 
  • Travel, perform and stay overnight London in March 2027 
  • Travel back and perform in Manchester in March 2027 (This could be back to back performances)
  • Show evidence of:
    • Musical work (recordings, demos, releases).
    • Performance experience (gigs, open mics, school/college shows, livestreams).
    • An interest in growing as an artist and developing other skills within the music industry

  2. Your artist name (if different).
  3. Links to your music/performances (SoundCloud, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Bandcamp, etc).
  4. Short responses to the following questions:
    • What is your vision for yourself as an artist?
    • Why do you want to take part in Soundcamp 2026/27?
    • What commitments or challenges might affect your ability to participate?
  5. Any access needs we should be aware of?

Timeline

  • Applications Open: 18th Aug 2026
  • Applications Close / Shortlisting: 11th Sept 5pm
  • Panel Interview and Shortlisting: 16th or 17th Sept (You will be required to attend an online meeting of up 1 hr) 
  • Programme Start: 22nd, 23rd, 24th Sept –  10am – 4pm  and continue  Tuesday Evenings in person in Macnehster until March 2027

Transport for Greater Manchester for Customer Service vacancies based at various bus interchanges across Greater Manchester. The roles they are recruiting for are as follows:

Utility Officer

Career graded Band 5/6 starting salary £31,762 plus 15% shift allowance – A flexible role providing cover across multiple operational positions, including site coordinator, Ticket and information Assistant and Operational Assistant at locations across Greater Manchester.

Bee Network Customer Service Assistant

Band 4 starting salary of £29,836 plus either 12.5% or 15% shift allowance depending on shift pattern – Acts as a visible frontline presence across the network, assisting customers with journey planning, lost property, and service information.

Site Coordinator

Career graded Band 5/6 starting salary £31,762 plus 15% shift allowance – Oversees the day-to-day operation of bus stations and interchanges, preforming regular checks and ensuring sites are safe, well managed and provide a high-quality experience for customers.

Eligibility (open to all who meet the below criteria):

Must be unemployed,19+ (on date of course start) and claiming a benefit at present.

We can take those in employment if they are earning less than £26,800

Composing Online Workshop – Saffron

Composing with Regional Folk Recordings with Noni-Mouse, apply here

In this online session, Noni-Mouse from Sound of Women will introduce us to FOLKSOUL – a cultural preservation project documenting the oral traditions of women in rural North India and merging them with contemporary expression.  

Across the course of two-hours, she will discuss and share various electronic music production techniques that can be used to showcase folk recordings in a fresh light, focusing on creating arrangements that work for these regional compositions, instead of sampling or fragmenting them. In doing so, she will illustrate the methodology of Sound of Women, where they aim to create a new sonic packing for traditional songs.
