We believe great stories can come from anywhere, but opportunity is not always distributed equally.

Rather than supporting completed films, the Film Fund provides the selected filmmaker with production finance, festival support, mentorship and practical guidance—helping outstanding short film ideas move closer to production.

SEE MY WORLD Film Festival – CALL OUT

SEE MY WORLD are looking to showcase a selection of films created by black and global majority creatives from or living in the North of England. 

Guided by Pan-African principles of decolonisation, social justice, and racial equality, they are looking for films in search of strategies for liberation. How does liberation, especially for black communities, express itself. 

Criteria:

  • SEE MY WORLD welcomes submissions from Pan-African and Global Majority filmmakers aged 18 and over who are based in or from the North of England.
  • Submitted films should fit into the theme of the festival.
  • Films can be as short as 1 minute and be a maximum runtime of up to 30 minutes.
  • All genres are welcome e.g. Fictional, Animation, Comedy, Experimental, Documentary, etc.
  • Films must not have a prior theatrical or commercial streaming release.
  • We welcome entries in any language, but request that English subtitles be provided for dialogue.
  • We ask that you only apply if you are able to join us at the Film Festival on 21 November.

Exec Producer – Reform Radio

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Reform Radio team Manchester as our new Exec Producer. We’re a growing Community Interest Company, production company and award-winning radio station, dedicated to supporting young adults to access cultural opportunities and career pathways in the creative industries. 

As part of our Production Team the Exec Producer will work predominately on our weekly BBC Radio 6 Music show, as well as across other ad hoc projects with the BBC and partners as they arise. We are ideally looking for someone based in Manchester or willing to travel, who can help with studio cover and production team resilience when required but are open to this being more remote for the right candidate. We’re looking for someone with previous Exec Producer experience, ideally at 6 Music, but work across other BBC networks will also be considered. Thorough understanding and experience of BBC systems and compliance is essential, as well as good knowledge and understanding of the music, output and editorial direction of 6 Music.

Hours: 8 hours a week – This role is a fixed term until October 2026, with a view to renew in line with BBC contacts for another year, until October 2027.

Salary: £40k – £44.7k depending on experience,  pro rata (FTE 0.2)

The GMCA Culture Fund: Inspire is designed to support Greater Manchester-based:

  • Freelance artists.
  • Independent creatives, artists, musicians, and performers.
  • Small creative arts organisations (less than £100k turnover).
